Our research
What happens when an organ's own repair mechanisms become the source of disease? This is the central question driving our research. We are a basic science lab at heart, driven by curiosity about how the pancreas is built, how it regenerates, and how the immune system shapes its fate in health and disease. We believe that fundamental discoveries carry translational potential that should not be left on the bench. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, cystic fibrosis, and diabetes all have roots in developmental and regenerative programs that have gone awry, and understanding these basic mechanisms opens real paths toward new diagnostics and therapies. Our research is organized around four interconnected pillars that reflect this philosophy, starting from fundamental biology and building toward clinical relevance, because we are convinced that the most meaningful translational insights come from asking basic questions first.
